Boucle Mohair / Wool RuanaThe ruana is a traditional celtic garment, similar to a cape but with with the front and back panels being of equal length, and the sleeves unstitched. These versatile garments may be worn in a number of ways, for instance the wearer can choose to throw either one or both panels over her shoulders (the image, left, shows both shoulders covered). It is also possible to wear the ruana around the waist in the manner of a skirt or sarong, though a brooch or other fastening will be required. Often a celtic design brooch will also be used to fasten the ruana when worn over one shoulder.
These magnificent ruana garments are made in Ireland from a boucle mohair and woollen mix. The makers, Cushendale Wools, are based in Graig-na-managh in Co. Kilkenny, an area renowned for centuries for its spinning, weaving and dyeing.
This product is available in one universal size: 70in x 54in
